i keep wanting to post some of my own lettering work, but i have a moral issue with showing strangers' names and street addresses. maybe someday i'll make some up. in the meantime, i'm really quite taken with these calligraphy bits from veronika filippova, so i'll show those off instead.
the same but different
when i came across the portfolio of artist jan avendano, i must admit that i paused on this piece for quite awhile. i wrote all about it, but then hit an unfriendly key and deleted all of my thoughtful philosophies on life and finding your unique gifts, and, frankly, i'm no longer in the mood. so you don't get to hear deep thoughts today (which, let's face it, is probably not why you visit a blog called because it's awesome anyway). instead, let's just enjoy jan's series, shall we?

the i am project :: live in color
The I Am Project :: Our wish is to affirm and inspire the beauty in every woman, to celebrate the uniqueness in each of us, as well as the commonalities that unite us as women. We want to create a space to confront the dark places that come with growth; to witness women being valued for more than their bodies, clothes, or societal projections; to feel inspired by stories and images; and to become more deeply rooted in who we are as women. We want to become a net of resources that will nurture and fortify each other's confidence, and fill women with awareness of the extraordinary beauty that each of us uniquely brings to the world.
